Salary: £55,461 - £59,414

About the role
The post holder is responsible for the overall management and leadership of the Children’s Home, ensuring that children and young people are provided with a safe, nurturing and supportive environment that promotes their wellbeing, development and positive outcomes.
The role will ensure that high standards of emotional and physical care are delivered, including the provision of appropriate activities, safe and comfortable accommodation, and the effective implementation of key working and care planning arrangements. These must be delivered in line with the Home’s policies, procedures and strategies, and in accordance with statutory and regulatory requirements.
The post holder will be responsible for ensuring that the home operates in compliance with the Children’s Homes Regulations and Quality Standards, and that the service meets all Ofsted regulatory requirements. The post holder will act as the Registered Manager for the home, fulfilling the responsibilities and duties associated with this role under the relevant legislation and national standards.
The home provides placements for children and young people aged 5–17 years, and the post holder must ensure that care and support provided meets the diverse emotional, behavioural and developmental needs of this age range.
The role requires strong leadership, emotional resilience and the ability to develop positive and trusting relationships with children and young people, supporting them to overcome challenges and achieve their individual goals. This includes working in partnership with families, social workers and other professionals to deliver planned, outcome-focused care, using structured support and achievable targets to promote stability, progress and positive life opportunities for each child.

You will:

Lead the full set-up and registration process with Ofsted

Recruit, develop and inspire your own staff team

Embed a strong, child centred and trauma informed culture

Drive high standards of care, safeguarding and regulatory compliance

Work in partnership with fostering, residential, commissioning, and family support services to support planned step-down arrangements

Ensure children receive outstanding care and achieve the very best outcomes possible

Please note:- A Social Work Qualification for this post is desirable but not essential. However, you will need to hold a Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare and have Substantial experience in residential childcare setting. As well as able to pass/meet the requirement for an Ofsted “Fit Person” interview.
